Dunno which of these steps fixed the problem but I completely deleted the file for D2R and extracted it again from the zip. I closed down the Zclient and reopened it. then tried to play the game and am now able to get past the title page and play the game.

I am also getting this error message It wont let me even start the game stuck at title as well
